is well known as a quiet, flourishing community nestled away from the hustle and
bustle of hectic city living. Surrounded by water on three sides, it is home to
the beautiful Elliott Bay Marina, and the 534 acre Discovery Park full of hiking
trails, bike paths, beach access, the Indian Culture Center, and some of the
most beautiful sound views in the city.
In the heart of this thriving neighborhood is
Magnolia village which offers many specialty shops, espresso cafes, professional
and medical services, numerous banks, a post office, a library, grocery stores
and restaurants. You may even want to spend an afternoon at the new Magnolia
outdoor swimming pool or one of the many tennis courts located throughout the
village area. Also worth a visit is the Hiram Chittenden Locks with lots of
boats to watch and a fascinating fish ladder. Walk or bike across the locks to
Shilshole Bay and Marina or the Ballard Neighborhood!
Fisherman's Terminal is another great place to
spend some time. Pick up some fresh fish for dinner or dine at the wonderful
Chinook's Restaurant. Also at the terminal is the Bay Cafe which just can't be
beat for a good hearty breakfast.
Several bike trails run by Magnolia and go to
Myrtle Edwards Waterfront Park, Downtown Seattle, and Elliott Bay Marina. just
east of the Lyons Gate Apartments is the newly completed Interbay 9-hole golf
course, driving range, and miniature golf center. And of course, Downtown
Seattle is just a short drive, bus or bike ride away.
